I was offered tea, five to six times in a day, at the place where I have started working a couple of months ago. Though I am not fond of tea, but I took it because everyone was doing so. Then, one day, I realized that I have adapted to the environment by consuming a grand dose of it even though I never wanted to. I was doing it for the sake of company, or as a victim to the environment I am into. I just went into a whirlpool of thoughts regarding my environment
Initially, I found myself helpless in changing my environment, but my conviction told me change myself instead of trying to change the environment. Eventually, I decided to give up tea and it provided me with an idea for this article. We know that environment has an immense effect on people. Environment and the life of a person living in it are absolutely inseparable. When a single individual changes, it changes the entire society. When a person sparkles with life and vitality, so does the realm of his environment. This is the oneness of life and environment.
While we are influenced by the environment, the environment is also not left unaffected. We influence and change the environment just as much as the environment changes. It is like the body and its shadow, our lives being the body and environment, the shadow. An analogy can be the comparison of our lives with a body and the environment, its shadow. When the body bends the shadow bends too.
This is the place or land where we, the people, live and carry out our day-to-day activities. The state of a land is a reflection of the state of life of the people living on it. If the minds of living beings are impure, the land is also impure, but if the minds are pure, so is the land. There are no two lands, but one; the pure and the impure are found on the same land- the difference lies solely in the good or evil in our minds.
These days we are aware – more than we have been in the past – of how important it is to foster and maintain our planet earth. But attempts to limit situations like global warming show us how people are not aware of their contribution to the problem as an individual. It is clear that the destruction of our environment leads directly to the suffering, and eventual extinction of our race. How can the environmental changes be stopped when the destructive causes in people’s lives continue to exist? When we change ourselves at a profound level, it might not affect your immediate environment visibly, but it will affect the totality of our environment.
Understanding of this principle is perhaps best expressed in our determination to always improve ourselves, while working positively for the well being of others and the improving of our environment.
A great human revolution in just a single individual will help achieve a change in the destiny of a nation and further, will enable a change in the destiny of all humankind.
With the hope for an excellent environment.
